I am Giuseppe. I grew up in Basel, the son of wedding photographers who have been accompanying bridal couples since 1978. Even as a child, I sat in the back of the car while my parents drove to the next wedding. I saw how they prepared, how they arrived, how they watched the people. And I saw how happy the couples were when they held the finished pictures in their hands weeks later.

That shaped me. Not the camera. The connection between people.

In 2015, I founded my own company, Foto & Video Salva GmbH, to continue what my family started: a second-generation family business that captures weddings in such a way that when you look at the pictures, you feel like it was back then. Since then, over 500 bridal couples have entrusted me with their most beautiful date, and I take this responsibility equally seriously with every booking.

What drives me

Every wedding is a single day. This day happens once. It cannot be repeated, cannot be recreated, cannot be corrected. That’s what makes it special, but also what keeps me going as a photographer. I have to be present. Not hidden behind the camera, but in the middle of the action, without being conspicuous.

I don’t photograph weddings where everyone knows when the next photo is coming. I look for the moments in between. The look before someone smiles. The hand that briefly touches someone’s arm. The quiet laughter in a quiet corner. It’s precisely these spontaneous moments that you’ll look at in twenty years’ time and say: “Yes, that’s exactly how it was.” Only a photographer who really loves his profession and has been passionate about it for over ten years can reliably find these images because he doesn’t have to look for them. He simply sees them.

What you get from me

I work as a small, well-coordinated team of two. This has a concrete advantage: we can document photo and video at the same time without one getting in the way of the other. No coordination effort between two separate service providers, no different styles, no visual break between your photos and your film. Everything comes from a single source, with the same eye for light, composition and emotion.

After your wedding you get access to a private online gallery with the finished fine art images in full resolution. No water symbol, no compression, no download limit.

The same applies to your wedding film. From an atmospheric short trailer to a full movie showing the whole day from the first preparations to the last dance. Both in a quality that also impresses on the big screen.

And if you want, you can also add the photo box. It will be delivered and set up by us, and your guests can take photos all evening, with an instant printout and a layout in your wedding design. It’s amazing how much fun it is every time.

I know the region well. Not just the well-known places, but also the little corners that are incredibly beautiful in the right light. The early morning mist over the Rhine. The golden evening light that falls through the narrow streets of the old town. The moment shortly after sunset when the light softens and everything seems a little unreal.

I regularly attend weddings in Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft, i.e. in Binningen, Allschwil, Bottmingen, Münchenbuchsee and Riehen, and of course throughout Switzerland, wherever your big day takes place. I know Binningen Castle, Bottmingen Castle, Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois and Merian Gardens from my own experience. This helps because I know where the light is best and when, and I don’t have to think about it on site.
