Gourmet experience in a historic moated castle
Last Friday, I had the pleasure of visiting a very special place just outside Basel: Bottmingen Castle, also known as Weiherschloss. What awaited me there was more than just a visit to a restaurant. It was an experience for all the senses that I don’t want to withhold from you.
A castle that breathes history
Bottmingen Castle dates back to the 14th century and is surrounded by a romantic park and a tranquil moat. When you enter the building, you are immediately immersed in another world. Baroque ceilings, historic halls, subdued lighting and an atmosphere that is hard to find anywhere else in the region. The rooms have been tastefully renovated without losing their historical character and offer space for up to 145 people, whether for an intimate dinner, a corporate event or a dream wedding.
Gourmet cuisine at the highest level
The culinary heart of the castle is the gourmet restaurant Louis. The cuisine combines French haute cuisine with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Each dish is not only a delight for the palate, but also a feast for the eyes, carefully arranged and prepared with great attention to detail. Quality that you can taste and see.

Julia and Peter behind the scenes
I was particularly pleased with the warm welcome I received from Julia and Peter from Bottmingen Castle. They took the time to show me around the castle, explain the different dining areas and give me a real look behind the scenes. You can tell immediately that there are people at work here who love their job and who really care about the quality of the experience for their guests.
